R.J. Ellory is a British author of fiction. Born in 1965, his novels mainly fall into the thriller genre. As an author, Ellory counts among his major influences Michael Moorcock, J.R.R. Tolkien, Stephen King, and Arthur Conan Doyle. His full name when not writing is Roger Jon Ellory but he shortens it and uses it as his pen name.

His mother passed away when he was just six years old, leaving Ellory an orphan at a very young age. Despite this young tragedy in his life as a boy, R.J. Ellory went to a few different schools to study before finishing his time in school in Oxfordshire at Kingham Hill School.

R.J. Ellory began writing his first novel in 1987 and finished it in 1993. He had completed over twenty novels and kept receiving rejection letters from publishers. Due to this rejection, he gave up writing until 2001. It was the only thing– writing– he wanted to do. His first novel was titled Candlemoth and was published in 2003. It was nominated for a CWA Silver Dagger award for Best Thriller in 2003.

His first published novel was received very well and ended up making the shortlist for the Steel Dagger Award (as was another novel of his). His fifth novel ended up being a selection in 2007 for a famed book club and also won prizes and awards such as the Livre De Poches Award and a few more.

His novel A Quiet Vendetta also won the Quebec Laureat award as well as the Villeneuve Reader’s Prize. Another novel of Ellory’s also happened to win in 2010 for the best crime novel released that year. His work has been the focus of a number of awards internationally that include the 813 Trophy, the European Du Point, the M.B.A. award, and two Barry Awards.

He can also be attributed to writing the immensely popular Chicagoland series. This trilogy features three books and they are unusual in that you can casually download them online and read them right on your Kindle. Besides his debut fictional novel Candlemoth, he is also the author of other novels such as Ghostheart, he Anniversary Man, Bad Signs, and more. His most recent novel is titled Kings of America; it was released in 2017.

R.J. Ellory also wrote the screenplay for his fifth novel for a pretty famous movie director. R.J. Ellory’s books are very popular worldwide, and they can be read in over two dozen languages around the world. His works have also been collected in the 2013 release of stories by Ellory.

The Sister is the first book in the exciting crime mystery Chicagoland series. This is the book that kicks it all off in this e-book exclusive trilogy. Well-received by critics and readers, this thriller is sure to keep you turning the pages until the end. When a murder goes down in 1956 Chicago of a young girl, a public is shocked.

A random man took the life of a young girl by squeezing the life out of her four and a half years ago, and the main character in this book is eager to see their sister’s killer die. The man eventually confessed to the murder without hesitating, but that brings no sense of peace for the survivors. The man did not ask for mercy and did not give any explanation. The testimonies of one cop, killer, and sister could finally lead to the truth behind the murder that happened that day.

The sister of that victim has been waiting a lot of time to see justice delivered, and now it seems that all of that time spent waiting is about to fit into one minute’s time. They’ve been waiting a long time to see the killer leave this Earth and have been longing for the moment that holds the only thing they want: to see the killer of her sister executed and no longer exist on this plane. Will they get what they want? Find out in the electrifying first novel in this gripping series from R.J. Ellory.

The Cop is the sequel to The Sister from the Three Days in Chicagoland series. This sequel to the first e-book picks up where the other one left off, but takes place with a different character voicing the narrative. The main character in this novel is Detective Maguire, who works for the Homicide Division in the 9th Precinct for the Chicago Police Department.

Maguire works a job that can suck the life out of you on some days. But it helps him support his wife and his two kids together. When he gets a case that involves a murder of a young kindergarten teacher who has been choked to death on the floor of her kitchen, he’s not exactly excited. The case should have been open and closed. They did the research, looked around the neighborhood, and finally got their guy.

But if Maguire knew this case would trouble him so much, he might not have done things the same way. Hindsight, as they say, is 20/20. However, the suspect wasn’t even caught due to their efforts. He just came in off the street to the department and owned up to the murder. When someone confesses to a murder, then you’ve got a recipe for an easy conviction. But it all seems too easy and too good to be true. So is it?

Maguire has to figure out whether this killer is genuine or he’s posing as a fall guy so they never find the real killer. If that’s true, who could have put him up to it? They say that the devil is in the details.

What’s going to happen if this guy isn’t the real murderer of that teacher? And if this guy didn’t kill the young woman, who did? It’s up to Maguire to figure it out and track down the true killer so that justice can finally be served and he can start to rest easier. Be along for every step of the way and find out what happens in this trilogy by R.J. Ellory by downloading a copy of The Cop today!

    Hi

I have recently come across your writing and am quietly thrilled that I did.
    Thank you for your gems.

May I ask: will there be a sequel to “Proof of Life”?

Raphael has his hooks in me and I really want to hear his tale.
    Forthwith if not sooner

    You get the drift

Thank you – now, back to it please
